Collaborative project at Dalmally train station, Scotland.
‘Between Two Lines’ is the second collaboration between Liz Gaffney and Jane Locke. Responding to the chance find of a bundle of letters in a chest of drawers in Dublin addressed from Dalmally Station in 1877, the artists have put together a series of events which respond both to these letters and to the place and time of their origin.
The letters contain details of life at that time in Dalmally and include local stories as well as fictional tales created by the author of the letters, Margaret McPhail. The artists plan to re-enact events from the letters including Margaret’s habit of telling stories on the train, recreating samples of weaving that were included in the letters, and the project will culminate in a gallery based presentation of drawings, documentation and of course Margaret’s letters. A full schedule of the planned events will be available soon.
