"Asking about the firemen one name came up quite frequently; Patrick Cassidy.
It seems people come to botany in many different ways – Cassidy having discovered that the tobacco in his pipe was from Nicotiana tabacum, set about systemically smoking leaves from all of the plants in hot houses in his pipe, keeping meticulous notes of both the tastes and the effects.  He is long remembered being seen in the evenings on his way to start the night shift wearing his dark overcoat engulfed in a cloud of blue smoke."
